About Us
Hi! I'm Jen, owner and creator here at Electric Kittycorn! Growing up I always felt different, and it wasn't until I started going to music festivals and raves in 2014 where I truly felt I belonged. I found a community where I could freely express myself without judgment and I could be who I've always been inside. I've always had a passion for creating sparkly things, so OF COURSE I handmade and bedazzled all of my own accessories for my next festival. Accessories are definitely my thing, and I love how a simple added accessory can take your outfit to a whole other level. After I was getting asked about my accessories and kitty ears, I decided to start my own Etsy back in September of 2017 and have never looked back.
After a couple years of EKC being my "side hustle," COVID hit us all and it forced me to really do some soul searching and think about my life path. I spent 4 years in college at UCLA for behavioral science and had been working in the field of behavioral therapy for several years since I graduated, even pursuing a Master's degree program for a year. I had a good "safe" job with a nice salary, benefits, and a career that made my parents proud. I thought my life path would be completely different, the "safe one" that sounds good on paper. I realized though that your life is what you make it and it's NEVER too late to change paths. We are constantly growing and evolving as humans and it's okay to embrace change. The thing is, with enough hard work, a diligent practice, persistence and commitment for growth, you have the power to do ANYTHING you set your mind to. I decided that day that I needed to choose between the safe career or the dream, and that day I quit my 9-5 job. I have been running EKC full time now since July 2020, with help from my supportive fiancΓ© Mason! We currently reside in Winchester, CA with our 2 adopted kitties Binx & Blossom, and our Goldendoodle Steve McQueen.
My mission here is to make you feel amazing and free to express your authentic self, to let your inner Kittycorn sparkle through my fun handmade accessories. By wearing my accessories I hope to encourage you to be proud of and embrace your differences and to spread the bigger message of "what makes you different makes you meowgical." EKC is proud to be an all-inclusive brand where all souls are welcome. We are all about the PLUR, good vibes, and acceptance for all. My bigger brand mission is to support and encourage other small businesses, especially women in business. I'm constantly inspired by the creative women I've connected with in this community and I hope to inspire others to make a career out of their passion through my story too. Creating has now become my practice, my therapy, and my freedom of expression daily and I wouldn't have it any other way.
